Do any of these sound familiar?
“I’m working too much, too far from home, for too little.”
“I want a more fulfilling career, but even if I wanted to try something new, I can’t afford to start all over in an entry-level position.”
“I’m a stay-at-home parent, and I need flexibility and some extra cash.”
Well numbers 1 and 2 were me just a few years ago – I’ve told my full story here and many times before. I wish I could say I boldly set off on a new beginning completely of my own volition, but sadly, that’s just not true.
I stumbled into bookkeeping sideways (again, read the story), and I’ve built a successful practice. But I wish someone had told me, when I was unsatisfied, underpaid, and unfulfilled, that there was another way without me having to start in an entry-level, full-time position. I would have jumped on it.
So if you like numbers (you don’t have to be a math genius, though), organization, and people, you might be a good fit for freelance bookkeeping. It’s a highly in demand profession, it can be done full or part-time, you can work for yourself and set your own hours, dip your toe in or dive right in. It really offers me the flexibility I always dreamed of, and I want others to be as happy as me!
That’s why I created Bookkeeping Business Startup: Launching your Business with Confidence. It’s a short and sweet little 1-hour course, that will:
- Help you determine whether bookkeeping is for you
- Dispel some of the stories you have in your head as to why you can’t do it
- Talk about the great training programs I took
- Teach you how to get clients (headline: it’s not that hard)
- Educate you on some of the technology you can use to make it a whole lot easier
